The Three Chimneys

It is an immense challenge indeed to create the perfect, gourmet, British pub – even for the most experienced of chefs. So, when I came across The Three Chimneys, I was very surprised.

With history stretching back to 1420, the beams, low ceilings and dim, warm light provide a sense of traditional Kentish countryside. The wood furniture, log fire and bar area have a wonderfully cosy feel, echoing the antique roots of the pub.

Having been led through the bar, we took our seats in a very different space. The light and airy atmosphere of the dining room was a delightful contrast, with hops decorating the ceiling, vintage novels lining the sills and windows overlooking the wild-flower filled garden. The two varying ambiances compliment each other, giving the full package of a pleasant eating and friendly drinking experience

The Three Chimneys has won the Best Dining Pub in Kent for four years, and after sampling their food, it really is no surprise.

The Welsh Rarebit was almost too beautiful to eat, (although this didn’t hold me back for long), presented with artfully placed balsamic vinegar. I then followed with a fantastic steak, which was superbly cooked and well seasoned. As I have a ridiculously sweet tooth, I just had to finish with their chocolate mousse, accompanied by pistachio ice cream and raspberries – a wonderfully blended confection.

The Three Chimneys reflects the British village pub precisely. With local beers and produce from nearby family farms, there is a real community surrounding this ancient free-house – encapsulating the old English spirit of good company and great food.
